First Baptist Church in Van Wert Ohio
Clarence Sanderson at his 100th Birthday Open House on August 23, 2009 at First Baptist Church.

Clarence was a dedicated farmer and continued farming until age 92.

At age 98, Clarence climbs the ladder to inspect the the volunteers' work who are helping to re-roof Pastor Robinson's house.

Clarence recently celebrated his 100th birthday during an Open House hosted by his children at First Baptist Church.  Although His body has grown weaker over the years, he still has a vibrant desire to live life to the fullest.

He was born August 20, 1909 in Paulding County to James Harvey and Nancy Elizabeth (Shinaberry) Sanderson.

Clarence and Clara May gave their hearts to the Lord in 1938 and because of the new life they found in Christ; they dedicated their lives to His service.  Giving thanks before meals and having daily Bible reading and family prayer time became the custom in the Sanderson household.

Clarence became involved in the church and in his community by serving as an interim pastor at the Haviland Baptist Church in 1942 and through teaching and preaching in area revivals during the 40’ and 50’s. A number of folks in the community remember him as having a great impact in their lives.
